Alex Gardner is a Scottish indie pop singer from Edinburgh. Gardner was brought up in a musical atmosphere; his mother was a violinist with an orchestra and his older brother was a member of a heavy metal band. He was given piano lessons from the age of five and he owned his first guitar when he was 10 years old. Having left Edinburgh Academy at aged 16, Gardner set out to start an early music career in London. Stewart's Melville is truly proud of his hard core music and successful song writing. He wrote his current single, 'I'm Not Mad', at the age of 13. He has altered the song through the course of four to five years, ultimately releasing it as his first single. It peaked at #44 in the UK Singles Chart. He has supported his idol Paolo Nutini across Scotland and has played on the same bill as Mika and Paloma Faith. He has been compared to George Michael and is said to have the looks of a young Elvis Presley.2010 - present: I'm Not Mad and debut album Gardner is currently working on his upcoming untitled debut album, due out sometime in 2010. Garner's debut single and lead single from the album "I'm Not Mad" was released on March 29, 2010 in the United Kingdom and Ireland. In the United Kingdom, Gardner performed the song on shows such as GMTV and This Morning. He performed an acoustic set of the song on the Scottish TV show The Hour, which was Gardner's debut TV appearance in the United Kingdom. Gardner is working with producers who have produced music for Kylie Minogue in the past years.
