Junior Akerele, a.k.a. Realz, was born on the 22nd October 1990 in East London. Like any other young boy he enjoyed kicking around a football in the playground with the desire to play professionally when he grew up but there was another passion in his life. Taking inspiration from hip hop greats like Jadakiss, Mary J Blige and Lil Wayne, Realz began spitting his lyrics for fun at the tender age of 14. By 17 he had found his own style and was gaining the attention of UK Garage and Grime veterans like Wiley and God’s Gift. With aspirations of reaching the dizzying heights of artists like Tupac and Jay Z, it wasn’t long before Realz started making a name for himself. This name spread like whispers on the underground circuit resulting in him appearing on national radio shows including the Tim Westwood Rap Show. Realz made numerous pirate and online radio appearances but was finally ‘discovered’ on You Tube in 2007 by Ashley Walters a.k.a Asher D. Realz was promptly signed to AD82 productions the record label and production company owned by him and long-time friend Dewi Bruce-Konuah. Realz spent the next couple of years with his head down studying ICT and Music, writing fresh lyrics for the release of his highly anticipated debut EP and…wait for it…filming his debut single video in South Africa. Realz is now poised to release his debut single ‘Glowing’ alongside the 6 track EP ‘RLZ’. Watch this space…it won’t be empty for long!
