Born and raised in a 10th floor two bedroom council flat in Battersea south london. Romeo at the age of 12 started Dj’ing for a sound system playing in youth clubs all across London, he then went on to playing in front of 2000 people every summer at the Nottinghill carnival with fellow So Solid crew member Mega Man wilst promoting youth club events. Romeo made his MC-ing debut in 1998, at the age of 17 at Garage Nation, Bagley's King's Cross and soon after the name Romeo was being printed on club flyers all over London.
During this period So Solid was formed, and Romeo once again rejoined megaman on the persuit to reach out to the masses along with fellow members Mac, P.D.S and G. man !! they begun the hard graft of promoting themselves within the underground club circuit and pirate radio station Supreme fm, Learning the stucture of the business soon became apparent when they started promoting there very own club nights, wilst departing from Supreme fm to form there very own radio station Delight fm, as new members begun to join the growth never went unnoticed, something new was being created and very quickly drew the attention of the masses. .
From the moment So Solid Crew’s first single, OHNO (sentimental things), featuring Romeo, Lisa Maffia & megamen, was released to the underground late 1998, the impact instantly gave birth to a new sound, as a prominent member of the collective Romeo’s instantly recognisable voice fused with electrifying sounds pruduced by megaman immediately stood him out from the crowd . the buzz and exitement from the public never went unnoticed and soon enough record lables began looking in for the first time,
The single was signed by relentless records and released nationaly in November 2000, Becoming the first underground video to be played repeatedly on comercial music video stations such as Box & kiss Mtv base, unfortunatly the single wasn't elegable for chart position as there were too many remixes attached to the cd, if had charted the single would have reached no.13 in the national charts. yet another learning curve.
Romeo’s springboard to fame
came with So Solids platinum selling number one hit single “21 Seconds” in 2001, Gaining Mobo awards, 2 Brit awards, NME awards, UMA awards plus a platinum selling album titled “they don’t know.”

In 2004 Romeo appeared in the reality show The Games which gained over 3.5 million viewers, although the show was completely out of Romeo’s comfort zone he agreed to take part for charitable purposes and raised £20,000 which he insisted was donated to a “sicklecell charity.” He also featured in TV game show “Fool Around With Romeo “ on Channel 4, in which he was locked in a big brother environment for four days and had to guess which girl out of four was single. Romeo also appeard on T4, Celebrety Poker, Never mind the Buzzcocks the list goes on. Through out the years Romeo has featured in numerous amounts of magazines including Sunday Times, GQ, FHM, FACE, Touch, Heat, Now magazine, Glamour to name a few, and was even tagged by press as to having the Beckhams naming there son after him. “ Belying So Solid Crew’s controversial reputation, Romeo has an aura which any self-respecting manufacturer of men’s grooming products would kill to bottle.” Quoted Telegraph magazine.
Romeo has established him self as a Brand and remains well respected for his accomplishments & with so solid has contributed to opening doors within the uk music industry that never existed before, but still acknowledges the fact that there is lots more work to be done!! More info to come !!
