TODAY'S TOP GOSSIP Robbie Williams has secretly laid down vocals on a remake of the football song ‘3 Lions' for this summer's World Cup in South Africa.
The pop icon will feature alongside The Lightning Seeds' Ian Broudie and comics David Baddiel and Frank Skinner on a new version of the terrace anthem.
He got involved in the project by accident after finding out about recording sessions while working on material of his own at a studio in London./n"Robbie bumped into Ian and they decided to team up. They were really pleased with the results," explained a source.
"His management didn't even know he had taken part until afterwards and some of them are saying he should focus on his own music rather than resurrecting a track that's 14 years old," they said./nA spokesman for the star confirmed his involvement on the track, which topped the UK charts in 1996, when England hosted the Euro '96 tournament.
"Robbie has contributed to the ‘3 Lions' track and, together with his involvement in the Soccer Aid celebrity soccer match in June, is happy to be involved," they explained [The Sun]./nALSO IN TODAY'S PRESS
