R.I.P. SMILEY CULTURE aka DAVID EMANUEL D.O.B. 10/2/1963 – D.O.D. 15/3/2011
Being a child of the 70’s; I came into this world hearing stories of hate, stories of unsolved crimes and stories of injustice!
Stories that soon became a reality to me, the older I got... as these ‘stories’ became associated with people I knew, people I had grown up with or around (people I associate myself with).
Such is the case of the tragic morning of Tuesday March 15th 2011.
Hearing the rumours that morning and then having it confirmed by lunchtime... It was sadly true; Smiley Culture aka David Emanuel had died in questionable circumstances.
I remember endless social network conversations that queried the story being put out by the Police...
The more I myself read this story; the sicker I felt, the angrier I became and the more I found it hard to believe.
Once again we hear the term ‘death in police custody’
How many times, how many lives, how many families....
A uniform does not maketh a man; but a man does make a uniform.
To clarify that sentence;
A person does not become Godly, Saintly or heroic just because they don a uniform.
However, if a person is Godly, Saintly and/or heroic – then no matter what he/she dons – then these qualities will shine through that uniform.
We are all human and we all have idealisms and opinions of our own!
The reason I comment on this is because there are way too many people in the world that are ignorant of the police, ignorant of the government, ignorant to the fact that we are all just
puppets being led by many puppet masters!!
Too many people have commented that the police wouldn’t/ would never and couldn’t/could never – when in actual fact the sentence should read the police shouldn’t/should never..
Does a uniform stop a child from misbehaving on public transport? No!!
Tragically a father, son, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend is again lost and is again a “statistic”
How many “statistics” must we endure – How many lives must be lost – In 2011 – Our society has not moved on – not in reality!
Government statistics may show improvement; but that is because that is what they want you to believe!
When you get down to the cold hard facts and you look deep enough; it’s just as rotten as ever before...
