Having waited patiently for the elusive Mr Ashley Walters (as he describes himself); the day finally arrives

where I can have that all important no holds barred conversation – albeit on the telephone, as the original

plan of meeting up in person is on the shelf for the moment – both Mr Walters and I needing to pin each

other down; so the compromise – a phone call!

 

Although this is a phone call that takes place during the Arsenal v Barcelona match on Wednesday 31st

March – so I don’t fully have the avid Arsenal fans’ full attention, but I have enough that any girl could ask

for. (I’m yet to tell him that Manchester United is my life).

Ashley, (the artist formally known as Asher D) is very down to earth and very like-able and not at all how

you would expect most celebs to be – he attributes this to experiences in his life that have made him stop

and take stock.

The one time bad boy of the industry has paved a way for himself that most from his background

can only dream of.

Having put in the hard work and dedication and shown the ability; he can now

 list – under his belt – ‘Hustle’, ‘Speedracer’, ‘Get Rich or Die Tryin’, ‘Life and Lyrics’,‘Small Island’,

‘Five Days’ and ‘Sugarhouse’ – to name but a few – as achievements to date.

So, who is Ashley Walters, the man behind the camera?

In the short time that I have come to be an acquaintance of Ashley; he has shown that he is a family man,

who thrives on the support he receives from his support unit… his partner & children,

 his mum and her partner and his beloved father, who sadly passed away and whom

Ashley has dedicated a track [Hard Enough] to.

In our various chats both on and off the record, I’ve come to learn that Ashley is smart,funny and streetwise with a wicked sense of humour.

However, don’t make this fool you...     He also has a good head for business.

He has started his own production company ‘AD82’, that he runs with his business partner and stepfather Richard Parkes; and will be making his directorial debut this year

– having written his own material over the past couple of years.

He also has some new artists up his sleeve… (Look out for ‘Realist aka Rlz’ – who is burning up the airwaves and just waiting for that all important break).  Remember that

name – it is destined for big things!!

 Was it daunting meeting Ashley?  No; I believe I may have been a little intimidated to meet Asher D; however, Mr Ashley Walters is just like you or I and is very hospitable

and a gentleman through and through.

He remembers what and where he’s come from and knows only too well, it doesn’t take too much to go back there.

He speaks with good, as well as bad memories of being with ‘So Solid Crew’, although he is not in touch with a lot of the group anymore.

He speaks of his admiration of 50 cent and how he was inspired by what ‘Fiddy’ has done and become.

He has taken this and become the ruler of his own destiny.

And rule he does… he commands his roles, he commands his music; never disrespectful; although a bit hard on himself at times (but this is a fault he acknowledges);

He is not afraid to speak his mind and is very outspoken when it comes to matters of the heart.

Having lived a whirlwind life in the fast lane; he got rich quick, but almost lost it all just as quick; making judgment calls that he himself will tell you were not the best.

But this man chose not to be defeatist and rose out of the ashes, got back on the horse and turned his life around.

Ashley has developed into a charming man, who’s got his head screwed on right.

He knows where he’s been, he knows where he’s coming from; but most of all, he knows where he is going and he knows what he wants.

I, for one am in awe of this man and his achievements and talent at the age he is and I am definitely one of his greatest fans.

 At the time of going to press, Ashley is working on his next big project for the BBC. - Could he be the new golden boy at the beeb?? - it certainly looks that way!

Ashley Walters was born on 30thJune 1982 and grew up in South London. He is an aspired actor and musician and a great role model.
